Music Video: Lil Durk- "My Beyoncé (feat. Dej Loaf)"

I'm not gonna lie: I'm addicted to this song haha. Lil Durk has revealed the music video for his Dej Loaf-assisted track, "My Beyoncé." The video takes an interesting route as it mimics scenes from the classic movie—Love and Basketball. It's a very catchy song and their on-screen chemistry is pretty great. Check out the video above. "Durk and Dejjjjjjjjj, Durk and Dejjjjjjjjj"

Earlier this week, Game released a song called “Bigger Than Me,” another step taken in the beef between him and Lil Durk. I won’t get into how this beef started as it deals with Tyga, Chief Keef, and more. XXL has a nice timeline of the beef here. Anyway, Game revealed the video for the song where he rips an XXL Freshman Class magazine in half so it looks like this beef won’t be dying soon. Regardless, this song features Game spitting with more fire than I’ve heard in a long time and I think that’s when he’s at his best. So we’ll see where this goes. Enjoy.

XXL 2014 Freshman Class Roundtable (Parts 1 & 2)

The XXL Freshman Class Roundtable discussions are one of my favorite parts of the XXL season. Featured above are parts 1 (Kevin Gates, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Isaiah Rashad & August Alsina) and 2 (Rich Homie Quan, Ty Dolla $ign & Lil Durk). They all discuss hip-hop and how it is categorized in the media and otherwise and how they view hip-hop. Stay tuned for updates on the last installment. Enjoy.

XXL revealed their 2014 Freshman Class today and it’s full of recognizable names. The list consists of Chance The Rapper, Rich Homie Quan, Isaiah Rashad, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, Kevin Gates, Troy Ave, Vic Mensa, Lil Bibby, Jon Connor, Jarren Benton (People’s Choice) and August Alsina. They switched things up and added R&B to this year’s list and I’m ok with that. I’m gonna go ahead and endorse Chance, Vic, August, Isaiah, and Jon Connor. I’ll continue my regular routine and pretend all the other artists don’t exist. Even though I don’t mess with anything Lil Durk does, it’s good to see four Chicago artists on the list. Can’t wait for the cyphers and roundtables. Enjoy.

WorldStarHipHop premiered a very interesting documentary last month. The Field: Chicago explores the violence in Chicago from the perspective of many of Chicago’s hottest artists. This honestly just makes me feel worse about my city. It just hits so close to home, figuratively and literally. Just seeing their mindsets and how they view things is scary. It makes you wonder if things will ever get better.
