Top 15 Albums/Mixtapes of 2015

It has been a pretty great year for hip-hop and R&B fans. Kendrick Lamar delivered yet another classic album. Dr. Dre delivered his final album and it was impressive. Janet Jackson returned with a very cohesive effort. Adele returned from her four-year hiatus to dominate the charts and that's just the beginning. As 2015 comes to an end, it is important to reflect on those projects that made a lasting impression. The following list represents my favorite hip-hop and R&B albums/mixtapes from 2015. Unlike my Top 40 list, I also tried my best to rank these albums based on their merit. I hope you enjoy the list and these projects as much as I did. I'll see you in 2016!

To hear me talk about these projects in detail, check out Episode 18 of my podcast!

Big Sean- "Play No Games (feat. Chris Brown & Ty Dolla $ign)" (Music Video)

Big Sean is on a roll with his music videos as of late. He has delivered his fourth music video in a couple of weeks with the visuals for his Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign-assisted track, "Play No Games." The video is very creative as it mimics the set and visuals of the classic show, Martin. See how close Sean got to the original above.

Big Sean- "All Your Fault (feat. Kanye West)" x "I Know (feat. Jhené Aiko)" (Music Videos)

Big Sean decided to treat his fans today by releasing two music videos for songs from his latest album, Dark Sky Paradise. The first video, for "All Your Fault," features Big Sean & Kanye rapping their verses for an energetic crowd in a trip environment. The second video, for "I Know," takes a much more creative approach as it features Sean & Jhené Aiko well into the future. Both videos definitely delivered. Check them out above and enjoy.

Big Sean- "One Man Can Change The World (feat. Kanye West & John Legend)" (Music Video)

Big Sean has revealed the video for his sentiments track, "One Man Can Change The World." Kanye and John Legend don't appear in the video, but Sean delivers exceptional visuals for the song dedicated to his late grandmother. Check it out above and enjoy.

Big Sean- "Blessings (feat. Drake & Kanye West)" (Music Video)

If you haven't copped Big Sean's latest album, Dark Sky Paradise, please do so. I think it's Sean's best album to date. He recently released the music video for his latest single, "Blessings." Drake and Kanye West both appear in the video to perform their respective verses. Check out the "dark" video above and enjoy.

Big Sean Announces Album Release Date & Debuts New Song w/ Drake & Kanye West

Well, it turns out the picture Big Sean tweeted above indeed involves his new album. Today was a busy day for Sean. He revealed that Dark Sky Paradise will be his third studio album with the trailer below and he revealed that it will be dropping on February 24th. He also debuted a new song called "Blessings" which features Drake and Kanye West. They all SNAPPED. I'm very excited for this album, and that's more than I can say for his last album. Shout out to G.O.O.D., it was a big day for them. Enjoy.

Kanye West Unveils Artwork For New Song?

UPDATE (01/26-8 PM): This is not for a Kanye West track. I believe this is artwork for a new track, or even a project, from Big Sean. Big Sean tweeted this photo out as well with the message, "done." Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Jhené Aiko also posted this photo on Instagram. So this is either a huge song with them all on it or they are all contributors to Sean's new album. Stay tuned.

ORIGINAL: Kanye West just tweeted the above photo of what looks to be the artwork for a new single. His album is set to be released this year so maybe this is artwork for a follow-up single to his Paul-McCartney-assisted track, "Only One." Hopefully this means a song is coming soon. Enjoy.

Big Sean- "I Don't F*** With You (feat. E-40)" (Music Video)

Big Sean has unveiled the music video for his E-40-assisted song, "I Don't F*** With You." The video is pretty silly as it features Big Sean as a quarterback trying to lead his team to victory while being distracted by girls haha. It also features some cameos from Kanye West, Teyana Taylor, and more. Enjoy.

Big Sean- "4th Quarter" x "I Don't F**k With You (feat. E-40)" x "Jit/Juke" x "Paradise"

Big Sean dropped off 4 new tracks last week and they are solid. Lyrically, it seems like he chose to take the ignorant route haha but the production is the real winner of these releases. DJ Mustard and 'Ye produced the "I Don't F**k With You" track and "Ye's beat sounds so much better than Mustard's. Also, Nate Fox, Da Interns, L&F, and MikeWillMadeIt delivered some dope beats for the last two tracks. I hope this is a sign that he's dropping an album soon because I could use some production (no pun intended) from the G.O.O.D. Music camp. Enjoy.

Travi$ Scott- "Don't Play (feat. Big Sean & The 1975)" (Music Video)

Travi$ Scott revealed the visuals for his track, "Don't Play," which features Big Sean and The 1975. The video is pretty strange; it doesn't really match the theme of the song at all. But Travi$ Scott is constantly trying to push the envelope when it comes to creativity so this is possibly just an idea he had to get out. His latest project, Days Before Rodeo, is available for free and it's pretty dope. Enjoy.
