Top 50 Songs of 2018
This is one of my favorite parts of the year as I get to look back at all the music we've received and pick my favorites. For the past 3-4 years, this list has been 40 songs long (with 5 honorable mentions) to combat the American Top 40 and the Billboard Hot 100 charts which list the most popular and commercially successful songs in the country. I wanted my list to represent the best of hip-hop and R&B. So this year, that sentiment and intention certainly remains but due to the enormous amount of great music we received this year, I’ve expanded the list to a Top 50. This list captures my favorite songs from those released in 2018, but I also took into account impact, commercial success, and songs that created a moment that couldn’t be ignored. So without further ado, enjoy my Top 50.
